Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson are not strangers, having met twice during their MMA careers. The combatants take on a different challenge on Friday night in the main event of Karate Combat 43 at The Expo in Las Vegas. The matchup will be the first professional karate bout for each fighter, with Pettis having beaten Henderson twice in their MMA days. Pettis scored a unanimous decision over Henderson on Dec. 16, 2010, and stopped him with a first-round armbar on Aug. 31, 2013. The co-main event features a battle for the vacant KC heavyweight belt between Ross Levine (2-0-0) and Sam Alvey (1-0-0).

Levine comes off a stoppage of Igor de Castañeda via a third-round punch at Karate Combat 38 in Miami on April 1. Alvey's professional karate debut came at Karate Combat 41 in La Romana, Dominican Republic, where he stopped Adam Rosa with a right hook to ground and pound at 1:43 of the first round on Sept. 16.
There is a second title fight on the card, with Omaira Molina (3-0-0) taking on Melinda Fábián (1-0-0) for the vacant KC women's bantamweight belt. Molina last fought on June 25, 2022, winning by decision in sudden death over Ana Luiza da Silva in Orlando. Fábián's karate debut was a unanimous decision over Erica Santos at KC 38.
Two open-weight matchups are on the card, as well, with Raymond Daniels (1-1-0) facing off with Adrian Hadribeaj (1-0-0) and Shannon Hudson against Chinzo Machida in the karate debuts for each.
